Sorry to learn about the ongoing issue that you have been facing, let me try to help you. I guess someone may say to try a hard reset on the phone, but to me that's like re-installing Windows on a PC that's having some problem and should be a last resort. I also tried going into recovery mode and executed a "wipe cache partition", but this didn't help.ĭoes it look like the fingerprint sensor hardware on this phone is defective now or is there anything else to try? I bought this phone new only about 2 months ago. I could delete some existing fingerprints without any issue, but cannot add new new ones. When I go to Settings > Security & Location > Fingerprint, it shows the same error message at the bottom, and if I simply tap on the Add fingerprint option, a popup box says "Fingerprint enrollment didn't work. Putting the phone in "safe mode" doesn't help either. But now restarting the phone or turning it off/on doesn't help. I got this same problem once a couple weeks ago, and restarting the phone resolved it then. I see a "Fingerprint hardware not available" error message in red at the bottom of the screen.
The fingerprint sensor on my Moto G6 is not working anymore.
